Plagiarism Policy
The E-Journal of Science and Emerging Technologies (EJSET) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of publication ethics and will not be tolerated.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct copying of text, data, figures, tables, images, or ideas without proper citation
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without appropriate acknowledgment
- Self-plagiarism, including duplicate publication or significant overlap with previously published work
- Data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation
- Improper authorship attribution or inclusion/exclusion of contributors
- Use of AI-generated content without proper disclosure (if applicable under journal policy)
Originality Requirement
All manuscripts submitted to EJSET must:
- Be original and unpublished
- Not be under consideration elsewhere
- Represent genuine research conducted by the listed authors
- Include proper acknowledgment of all sources
Authors must ensure that all cited works are properly referenced in accordance with the journal’s prescribed referencing style.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism detection using reliable similarity-checking software (such as iThenticate, Turnitin, or equivalent tools).
Acceptable Similarity Limits
- Up to 10–15% similarity: Generally acceptable (excluding references and commonly used technical terminology)
- 15–25% similarity: Manuscript may be returned for revision and clarification
- Above 25% similarity: Manuscript is subject to immediate rejection
The Editorial Board reserves the right to assess the nature and context of similarity before making a final decision.
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected:
Before Publication
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Notification to the corresponding author
- Possible restriction on future submissions for a specified period
After Publication
- Publication of a correction or retraction notice
- Removal or retraction of the article from the journal website
- Notification to the authors’ affiliated institution, if deemed necessary
Serious ethical violations may lead to permanent blacklisting from the journal.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are fully responsible for:
- Ensuring originality of their manuscript
- Obtaining permission for copyrighted material
- Providing accurate citations and references
- Maintaining integrity of data and research findings
All authors must confirm originality through a signed author declaration at the time of submission.
Editorial Responsibility
The editorial team of EJSET adheres to internationally recognized ethical guidelines and reserves the right to take appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct. Investigations will be conducted fairly and confidentially.
Policy Updates
This plagiarism policy may be updated periodically to reflect evolving academic standards and technological developments in research integrity monitoring. Updated versions will be published on the journal’s official website.
